1 The Art of Mucha Kachidza 2002 May 25
"My name is Mucha Kachidza and I was born in Zimbabwe in 1965. I received classical training in high school, but have developed my own style through the years. My art is colorful, to say the least, and portrays women in general and subjects pertaining to the feminine. Having been taught to sew as a young child, I often incorporate the use of fabric, upholstery and beads into my art which gives it more texture and dimension. I have been living and working in the US for about 16 years now, selling the majority of my work to private individuals. My inspiration comes from my experience with my own and other cultures including the great work of the Shona sculptors in Zimbabwe, Frida Kahlo and Benny Andrews."

We go the extra effort to search out uncommon, unique pieces. Our items are not mass-produced but are the works of skilled, village craftsmen. Many are decades, and in some cases centuries old, and have been used in actual rituals on the continent. They hold true to the African tradition of carving from a single log or block of wood."
